The colors in this quilt are just superb! I love this quilt and I've pinned it to my "Quilty Goodness" board on Pinterest (with proper credit, of course!). Feel free to follow me if you'd like: http://pinterest.com/lipglass/quilty-goodness/
Erica, how do you go about laying out your half-square triangle quilts? They are all so beautiful and so well-balanced with color and movement. As a newer quilter, I'm still trying to figure out the process and would love any advice you have to give me.
Hey Kels! You are a 'no-reply' blogger...attach your email to your account so bloggers can respond to you directly :) In the chance you stop back, I will answer your question here: First, welcome to quilting! It is super satisfying and highly addictive (at least the fabric shopping part). With these kind of quilts I use a really scientific method to lay out my quilts...I stand back and 'blur' my eyes to screen for visual weight, in contrast and color. The movement, I surmise comes from the fact that this randomness doesn't allow your eye to rest. Positioning half-square triangles at various angles, with high and low contrast colors touching promotes visual excitement (in my opinion). Hope this helps! good luck and I hope you find years of enjoyment in your quilting adventures!
Thank you, Erica! I am so excited to join the league of quilters! And to maybe try my own colorful half-square triangle quilt with the "squint" method ;) Also, thank you for the heads up on being a no-reply blogger.
Hey Erica, I'm wondering how big your squares are? 2x2? And how big your quilts are well at least how big this one is? I am possibly interested in this as a custom quilt some dimensions would help me with a visual and also what kind of fabric do you use? Im looking for a soft thin quilt...not stiff! hope ya see this.
