zippers.

As Google so graciously reminded us, today is the birthday of the man who perfected the zipper, Gideon Sundback. In his honor, I thought I'd share how I store my collection. I have a TON of zippers, suitable for nearly any type of project, in nearly every color. I typically pick them up at garage sales, thrift stores and estate sales. The vintage ones work every bit as well as the newer store bought ones (which I also purchase at times). When I first began sewing, I was soooo scared of the zipper. I thank my lucky stars for the numerous tutorials available online that helped to guide me through what turned out to be, not that scary at all!

Happy Zipping!

  1. That's a great idea to store them that way. For some reason, I have a lot of zippers even though I don't use zippers very often. I have no clue when or why I bought them all but it was handy last week when my daughter wanted me to make her a wallet. I had a near-perfect color zipper to use. It was way longer than I needed but better than going and buying a new one.

  4. fun! I store mine in a dull plastic box; I might have to find a cute suitecase.
