As promised, here is one of my summer(ish) sewing projects. A friend of mine asked for a baby quilt to gift to her friend's baby girl. I knew that I wanted to do a scrappy quilt and it didn't take me long to decide on which pattern to execute. I modeled it after this quilt from my earlier days of sewing.
I mixed it up a bit by cutting each of the 10" lengths of patchwork bars in half and alternating them when I pieced the quilt together. I'm really happy with the result! This style lends itself nicely to the scrappy look I was going for but because there are two rows identical to one another it looks cohesive and purposeful (at least I think so).
You may have noticed that I no longer have that nice siding (as in my blog header) to photograph my quilts on. Yes, I am sad about that...I moved and I no longer have a sun porch that offers so much natural light. I'll be busy brainstorming new places to photograph my work...
go make something!
I love this quilt! I have a few baby quilts to make and this would make a perfect one. Very cheerful!
Such a happy quilt!

beautiful job as always. Love scraps!
What a fun scrappy quilt! I love it, so random but not. Great idea.
I love it! Looking at make me want to jump into a box of scrappy fabrics and swim!
Love the scrappy quilt and definitely agree that it looks cohesive. Beautiful quilt!
Love it. It has a real homely, comfortable feeling that makes me want to just hold it and hug it. Cherrie
It's beautiful, Erica! I love it! I love that no two rows are the same. Such a great way to use up a big ole pile of scraps. Hope your move went well! Good luck finding a new place to photograph your project. I'm always looking for a better spot too!
Love it - Adorable! How about a tutorial!
What a fabulous quilt, Erica! And you have some of my favorite fabrics in there...I'm sure the receiver of this treasure is going to be thrilled!
Sorry about you losing your porch...even with a huge porch and great light, I can't take a decent photo to save my life! :o(
adorable! What a great pattern for scraps!
That's really, really lovely! The colours, the design, everything. I'm pretty positive whoever gets this is going to be thrilled to bits - I know I would be!
You're such a talented quilter. I love all the wrinkles! You didn't blog about moving, but I can only imagine how hard it was to move all the sewing stuff. :) We're thinking about moving and it scares me - I've been purging, but still have SO MUCH.
I found you on Pinterest- love love your scrappy but orderly quilt. This definitely inspires me! So happy to have found your blog!
