Erica, how do you go about laying out your half-square triangle quilts? They are all so beautiful and so well-balanced with color and movement. As a newer quilter, I'm still trying to figure out the process and would love any advice you have to give me.

It is super satisfying and highly addictive (at least the fabric shopping part). With these kind of quilts I use a really scientific method to lay out my quilts...I stand back and 'blur' my eyes to screen for visual weight, in contrast and color. The movement, I surmise comes from the fact that this randomness doesn't allow your eye to rest. Positioning half-square triangles at various angles, with high and low contrast colors touching promotes visual excitement (in my opinion). I am possibly interested in this as a custom quilt some dimensions would help me with a visual and also what kind of fabric do you use? Im looking for a soft thin quilt...not stiff! hope ya see this.
Hello!! :) beautiful quilt, I'm looking to get started making my first quilt and love the triangle modern design, can you help me with your square sizing and also, what is a good type of fabric to use...thank you so much in advance, I love all your half square colors and designs....and love the 'blurring of the eyes' effect as I do that all the time with my white lights at christmas time to be sure they are in the perfect spot!! best, michelle
