i heard the owl call my name.

This owl might be a little busy, but i think she's cute anyway. I think she might find her way onto a pillow or a patchy purse. All stitching done by hand, I like to keep busy as well.

score.

I got all of these vintage fabrics at the estate sale that I was talking about the other day. There is another bag of fabric that i didn't dump on the floor but is equally sweet. The fabric cost me $2.50. Does it get any better than that? I am sure I will be posting something extra patchy in the near future...

silly monster.

I was thinking of ways to entertain my niece and nephew (the older two) a while back and I thought making monsters would be fun. I gave the kids muslin and had them draw their monsters on it and i sewed it up and let them stuff it. This one is my favorite, embroidery floss for hair and old buttons for eyes, so cute! This project engages both the kids and myself, a real winner. I wish the photo was a little clearer, my camera and i are not getting along. Hmmmff!

ultra-mini quilt.

I made this the other day out out of scraps on my sewing room floor. I wanted to try a method of binding that i haven't tried before. It looks okay from the front but it didn't catch the binding in the back in all of the places, but it's ok since i will probably just hang it on the wall. Oh.... that cute hanger? yeah, i picked that up at an estate sale this morning for 25 cents! It came from a home of an old quilter, I also picked up a few fabric scraps and notions. Off to work now, have a wonderful day!

tooth fairy pillow.

Yes, it is a tooth for your teeth. I made this for my nephew Jack, who is just starting to lose teeth. Both the tooth and the pocket are made of linen and the letter is cotton outlined in embroidery floss. kinda goofy, kinda cute....just like jack!

a gorgeous day.

It is a beautiful day in southern Michigan today. The baby was napping so i decided to take my craft outside on the porch swing at my sister's house. Can you tell what I'm working on? it's my first time hand-quilting. it is meant to be wonky!

in honor of earth day.

i have been working on these little nature inspired totes that are made of linen. I will finish them soon. I just need to sew some straps and fit it with a lining. Unfortunately, I don't think they were made reponsibly with earth-friendly dyes, or grown organically. They are looking good so far all the same. In honor of earth day i indulged in an hour and a half massage...100% organic, only tested on this animal, completely pesticide free! Oh, how the body needs a little touch every now and again.

the tissue holder.

Ahhh, the tissue holder... so practical, so stylish. I went to the doctor today and was told that my ailments are due to a sinus infection. Yuck! I will be getting plenty of use out of this little wip up. Goodnight.

new fabric, new bib.

I have been really sick the last couple of days. I have a nasty cough, a funky feeling, tickly ears, and a raspy, raspy voice. However, this fabric came in the mail and I couldn't help but indulge myself in some craftiness. I love the little gnomes, they are super cute!

lavender and rice eye pillow....

This is a gift for a busy mom that i know. Hopefully it will relax her, it has a removable cover so that she can microwave the pillow and wash as needed. Yes, this is the third post today. What can i say? it is my day off!

my new old mirror...

I went to my first estate sale of the spring season this past Saturday, and i found this great mirror for $17.50! I had to take it home with me. I also found some vintage linens that I may share with you later.

kiddie wrist cuff...

So, last night was the big sleepover with my niece. Of course, we had to get crafty... this is what we came up with. This goes extremely well with the guitar-hero-rocker-look she is going for!

...another apron...

I woke up this morning and needed a quickie (craft that is!), this apron was the hot ticket. I used a heavyweight white linen for the apron and the pocket is patchwork and linen. I love bright colors on white or creamy backgrounds it makes the brights so much brighter. I love blogger's photos and am working on my photography, I need to establish a place other than the hardwood floors to capture my shots. Have a good Sunday!

...because in a past life i spearheaded the industrial revolution...

I swear sometimes, I can't just make one of anything. I am revisiting the baby bib in my latest sewing fit. I made a few of these in oilcloth months ago and decided to use up some scraps for these. Everyone is having babies, two women i work with have babies and I gifted each of them with a baby bib (neither shown here). I am loving making the bibs so there will probably be more to come!
